From the notice

The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) seeks feedback to inform potential future Lupus Research Program (LRP) focus areas and associated research funding opportunities. Although fiscal year 2027 (FY27) funds have not been appropriated, the LRP is requesting this information to support program planning processes. The CDMRP wants to hear from all audiences, interested parties, and individuals from academia, industry, community and non-profit organizations, scientific and professional organizations, federal agencies, and the public. This RFI is for information and planning purposes only and should not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of the LRP or the Department of War. BACKGROUND: The CDMRP represents a unique partnership between the U.S. Congress, the military, and the public to fund innovative and impactful medical research in targeted program areas. The CDMRP LRP’s vision is to cure lupus through partnership of scientists, clinicians and persons affected by lupus. The LRP’s mission is to fund research to understand, prevent, and diagnose lupus and to improve treatments and quality of life of patients, including Service Members and their Families, Veterans and the general public. Appropriations for the LRP from FY17-24 and FY26 totaled $75 million. As of October 2026, FY27 funds for the LRP have not been appropriated. If appropriated, the CDMRP will utilize its two-tier review process https://cdmrp.health.mil/about/2tierRevPr
