PROJECT NUMBER: UT NP ARCH 100(2) PROJECT NAME: Bridges on Delicate Arch Road PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Delicate Arch Road (DAR) is within Arches National Park (Park) and provides access to Delicate Arch. DAR is a functional class 1 roadway (Principal Park Road) and is heavily traveled by visitors and often congested during periods with moderate-to-high levels of visitation. DAR crosses three low-gradient ephemeral washes (Salt Valley Wash, Salt Wash, and Winter Camp Wash) near their confluence in the Salt Wash Basin downstream of Wolfe Ranch. Culverts installed during original road construction in the mid-1990s and during subsequent upgrades are inadequate to allow unobstructed stream flow and sediment transport downstream. This existing condition produces flooding and sediment deposition, which creates unsafe conditions for visitors, triggers road closures, potentially strands Park visitors, diminishes visitor experience of the Park, and generates high operational costs associated with traffic management, visitor safety, and cleanup operations. SCOPE OF THE WORK: This project will be designated as Reconstruction (4R) with one segment of restoration (3R), and will design and construct 100’ span concrete bridges at the Salt Valley Wash, Salt Wash, and Winter Camp Wash. The DA roadway profile at each Wash will be raised to accommodate a 10-year design frequency and allow a medium-sized excavator to access each wash. The DA will be realigned at the Salt Valley wash, moving the roadw
